Frequently Asked Questions

At Wake Counseling, we offer both in-person and virtual counseling sessions for residents of North Carolina. You can connect with your therapist from the comfort of your home or visit our beautiful office. If you have insurance, please verify that telehealth or virtual visits are covered under your plan.

Some of our therapists offer limited after-hours and weekend availability. Please check with your therapist to explore scheduling options.

Our child therapists typically work with children aged 5 and up who can express themselves through play or art therapy.

Currently, we are accepting BCBS, Aetna, Ambetter of NC, and UHC/UMR/Optum plans, and Self-Pay/Private Pay for mental health services. You can visit Fee & Insurance page to receive up-to-date information.

Clients are welcome to bring their own interpreters or a family member to their counseling session if they are facing language or communication barriers. Currently, we are unable to provide interpreter services unless the therapist has experience, expertise, or proficiency in your spoken language.

Our therapists’ availability to accept new referrals can vary daily. We strive to match each new referral with a therapist who best fits the needs you’ve shared in your appointment request form. During the initial scheduling call, our client care coordinator will inform you of the therapists currently available based on your needs. If you prefer to work with a different therapist, we also offer a spot on our waitlist, prioritized on a first-come, first-served basis.
