Types of Therapy Wake Counseling Practices

At Wake Counseling, we offer a variety of therapy approaches to meet the diverse needs of our clients in Wake Forest. Our team is experienced in providing evidence-based treatments tailored to support individuals, families, and couples on their mental health journey.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

CBT is a structured, evidence-based approach that helps individuals identify and change negative thought patterns and behaviors contributing to mental health challenges. By focusing on practical strategies, clients learn to develop healthier coping mechanisms and improve their overall emotional well-being.

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)

DBT is a specialized form of therapy designed to help individuals regulate intense emotions, improve interpersonal relationships, and develop mindfulness skills. It is particularly effective for those struggling with conditions like borderline personality disorder, self-harm behaviors, or chronic stress.

Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR)

EMDR is a therapeutic approach that helps individuals process and heal from traumatic experiences or distressing memories. By using guided eye movements or other forms of bilateral stimulation, clients can reduce the emotional impact of past events and build resilience for the future.

Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT)

ACT encourages individuals to embrace their thoughts and feelings rather than fighting or avoiding them, while focusing on taking meaningful action aligned with their values. This therapy helps clients build psychological flexibility and foster a sense of purpose and fulfillment in their lives.

Art Therapy

Art therapy uses creative expression to help individuals explore their emotions, process difficult experiences, and reduce stress. Through drawing, painting, or other artistic mediums, clients can gain insight into their thoughts and feelings in a nonverbal and therapeutic way.

Individualized Therapy Sessions

Individualized therapy sessions are tailored to meet each client’s unique needs, goals, and circumstances. These one-on-one sessions provide a safe and supportive environment to address personal challenges, develop coping skills, and work toward improved mental health and well-being.
