ABOUT ME

Hello, I am Georleena. I am originally from Queens, New York. I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Queens College. I relocated to North Carolina, shortly after graduating college to attend North Carolina State University (GO WOLFPACK!) to receive my Master of Education in 2021. I have been in the mental health field after graduation, and also completed an internship at North Carolina Central University’s Counseling Center.

I work with teens and adults struggling with anxiety, depression, PTSD or Trauma, grief or loss, sex/sexuality, school problems, career & work life transitions. She works with a diverse population including LGBTQIA+ using evidenced based therapeutic approaches.

EXPERTISE

I specialize in anxiety, depression, sexual wellness, and minor trauma especially within the diverse communities. During sessions, I work with clients to address the source of issues, how to use their strengths and mindfulness to overcome life challenges. I like to empower underserved and minority communities by providing mental health services and awareness. I work with adolescents, adults, couples and LGBTQIA+ population addressing other mental health issues related to grief or loss, school problems, career and work transitions, and relationship issues.

COUNSELING APPROACHES

In my clinical work, I practice Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Therapy, and Holistic therapy with adolescents and adults. CBT allows for me and my client to explore irrational thoughts, their source, and the best way to overcome negative thought process. Some individuals may need SFT approach as it is a quicker approach to working towards goals. With these approaches, we create measurable goals and work together to achieve them and identify any barriers. And combining these therapeutic approaches with Holistic therapy allows us to work with the body as well as the mind. As we practice mediations, breathing exercises to aid in your emotional and mental health treatment & wellness.
